30 Days of Creativity: Day 7 – Felted Pom Pom Flowers

2011 June 7
by Justine

Over the past year I’ve been repurposing wool from discarded sweaters. Sometimes I wet felt it, sometimes I frog it and knit something new, but I definitely don’t let any sheep fuzzies go to waste. Here I have recycled wool into felted pom-poms, glued them onto twigs, and created a lovely semi-permanent bouquet. Though this bouquet is neutral, I plan to make the next with a splash of color.

Thanks, Kelly! Yes, I have several of these adorable vases, made by a friend of mine. I just love them! The company is called Material Good, and the vase is called a Little Shirley. Proceeds go to a good cause, and you can read more about the story on the web site here: http://www.material-good.com/

        Justine!

That is SO CUTE! I absolutely love those pom pom flowers! Can you make others colors? I think orange ones in a blue or white vase would be gorgeous!

I am so glad to see you are making good use of your Little Shirlz, that makes me smile!

Yay, thanks Lauren! Yes, these pom poms can be made in any color, and I fully intend to do so. I
recently bought a book about yarn dying, so I’m going to try dying some of these neutral pom poms and see what happens. Orange would be great!
